National Health Service Education for Scotland - Web Technician

I am presently employed with the National Health Service Education for Scotland, or NES for short.

My main duties at NES include the administration of several web sites, including the main NES website: www.nes.scot.nhs.uk, the Scottish Medical Training web site: www.scotmt.scot.nhs.uk and the NES Intranet.

My Responsibilities include:

  • Redesign, Development and Editing of NHS web sites via:
    • HTML
    • ASP
    • XSLT
    • .NET
    • CSS
    • Umbraco CMS
    • SQL Databases
    • Adobe Dreamweaver
    • Adobe Photoshop
  • Following Guidelines and Standards including:
    • W3C Validation
    • Accessibility
    • Usability
    • Search Engine Optimisation Techniques
  • User Training of NES and NHS staff:
    • Creating User Friendly Documentation
    • One to One Staff Training
    • Group Training
    • Training users in the use of Content Management Systems
  • Other Duties include:
    • Filming and Editing
    • Support
      • Supporting Users who update the Web Sites with various issues
      • Working in conjunction with various IT departments, both internal and external to resolve issues

I continue to do freelance work to help grow my understanding of web sites and supporting technologies.
